Eyelash lamination: what you need to know about the procedure

Women’s unbridled thirst for beauty is the driving force behind the overall progress of all mankind. Women go to great lengths to become even more beautiful and attractive. An expressive look is an adornment of any woman, which is why eyelash lamination has become a popular cosmetic procedure that will make eyelashes thicker and longer for a long time.

What is eyelash lamination?

Lash lamination is the procedure of applying and holding certain chemical compounds on the eyelashes, which give the eyelashes a curve, add volume, and facilitate styling. Additionally, if desired, you can dye your lashes to enhance the colour saturation and add expressiveness.

At the beginning of the procedure, the eyelashes are cleaned and degreased. This is necessary for the best penetration of eyelash lamination compounds into the hair structure.

After the preparatory stage, depending on the length of the eyelashes and the desired effect, the size of the roller is selected, and it is very important to fix the roller correctly on the eyelids: it should not «go»  on the eyelashes, but it should not be far from them: the quality and success of lamination depends on this. At this stage, you need to be as attentive and concentrated as possible.

Next, apply a special glue to fix the eyelashes on the roller itself. It doesn’t really matter where you start applying the glue, but it’s more convenient to start in the middle, because that’s where the longest lashes are. Use eyelash extension tweezers or a microbrush to place the lashes evenly on the roller. The lashes should be pulled tightly onto the roller so that there is no space between the lashes and the roller. Work quickly and carefully until the glue hardens. When the glue hardens, you can no longer work and you need to apply an additional layer of glue. Particular attention should be paid to the separation of the eyelashes, i.e. there should be no crossing or creasing of the eyelashes, they should lie very flat on the roller. Particular attention should be paid to the tips of the lashes – comb them thoroughly to avoid creases and control their reliable fixation. For convenience, you can isolate the lower lashes with hydrogel patches or paper scotch. Remove the glue residue with a slightly damp cotton swab so that it does not interfere with the penetration of the formulations into the hair structure.

After completing all the preparatory procedures, apply the first composition – preferably in the middle of the eyelashes in an even layer from the inside to the outside. The exposure time is regulated taking into account the condition of the eyelashes, the desired result and the recommendations of the manufacturers of the formulations. Usually 8 minutes, but it can be 10-12. Usually, the greater the desired curve of the eyelashes, the longer the exposure time. Wash off the first composition with a damp cotton swab, repeating the direction of the eyelashes so that they do not lose their fixation direction. If the eyelashes come off somewhere, they are re-fixed with glue.

Next, apply the second composition evenly along the entire length of the eyelashes – from the base to the tips, without touching the eyelid. Sometimes, an additional film is used to prevent the eyelashes from peeling off and to ensure better penetration of the composition into the hair structure. After the required exposure time has elapsed, wash off the second composition with a damp cotton swab.

If desired, after washing off the second composition, you can apply a dye to the eyelashes to enhance their colour. The dwell time of the dye is usually 6 minutes, then the dye is carefully removed with a damp cotton swab, paying special attention to the gaps between the lashes – everything should be perfectly clean.

In order to complete the lamination process, a third composition or special oil is applied to the eyelashes and combed through thoroughly. This composition is not washed off for 24 hours. It provides additional care and hydration. At the beginning, the eyelashes look a little sticky, but after the first day, they dry and fluff up.

So, the lamination procedure is quite simple to perform, but the skill and accuracy of the lash master are no less important than the lamination formulations.

Enjoy the effect of eyelash lamination and impress with your beauty!
